Craft for the Week

Okay, so I don't have a picture quite yet, but it will end up looking like:
I've seen these around in magazines and stuff, but they are ridiculously priced, so I'm making my own!
Materials:
8x10 frame (make sure you get one that has your preferred color of frame) (Document frames from the Dollar Tree would work too!)
Mod Podge
Printer and a sheet of cardstock
antiquing ink
wooden letter, painted your preferred color ($2 at Hobby Lobby, less at Walmart)
ribbon or jute
How-to:
Print your saying on your piece of cardstock. Just copy and paste until the page is filled up. I am going to use the saying: "other things may change us, but we start and end witht the family" Antique it with a brown ink pad. Be careful not to push too hard on the ink pad (like I did! Grr!)Remove the glass or plastic from the frame. Glue your printed page onto the backing of your frame. Mod Podge over it. While it's drying, paint your letter and let it dry too. Then attach your ribbon or jute to it wherever you feel looks pretty. Once everything is nice and dry, attach your letter to your frame backing and voila! You're done! YAY!

Craft for the week

So I saw this cutie patootie on-line tonight but didn't feel like paying $13 for it! I know! Thirteen bucks!!!! So I'm going to have to make it myself. Start out with:
Materials:
frame from dollar store (you may need to paint it!)
black ribbon
Monogram rub-on or vinyl
Stapler
Glue gun and glue
How to:
Remove backing from frame and discard (or save...I may have a project for it!) Hot glue glass to frame. Make sure not to get any glue on the glass that will show through the window. You don't need a ton of glue so be careful! Apply your monogram. Staple ribbon onto the back of your frame, tie, and DONE! Just because I love you:

Sorry about not posting!

Hey everyone!

Sorry I didn't post last week! I was sooooo busy getting things ready for my ward's Super Souper Saturday. It was a blast but it sure was a lot of work. Anyway, I will be posting pictures later on this week and I will also post a new craft for everyone. Have a great week. Pumkin Walk and the cutest jungle cat ever...no LION!

Hey!

Here are a few pics I have taken over the last week of the annual Pumpkin Walk here in Logan and some of Gideon at our ward's halloween carnival. Oh yeah, and one of Gideon with an Easter egg in his mouth! He is so funny!

Aren't those pumpkins AMAZING! I can't believe the things people come up with! I am totally doing the garden thing with miniature pumpkins next year! Anyway, have a great day everybody!

P.S. Does anyone else's kid do the Easter egg in the mouth thing? I think it's hilarious! He loves to do it and he just walks aroung the house with it in his mouth! I would think his jaw would start hurting or something! LOL!

Craft for the week!

Hello, Hello! I decided I wanted to make something for myself this time so I made a necklace! Want to try? Well, it's your lucky day!

Materials:

Beads, any kind (mine were leftovers from a different project! I would have liked to use round beads, but I didn't have any...oooh-what about buying a cheap Christmas garland and using that?)

Beading thread or fishing like

glue gun

ribbon in coordinating color

First, cut your thread to measure about 45". You won't need that much but this way you won't run out. Then string three beads to the center:

Now, put one bead on but thread it with both ends of the thread so it closes up the other three like this:

Then you want to add one bead to each side then one bead the same way it looks above. This picture might help:
When you have your necklace to the desired length, (I wanted mine to be more of a choker so my bead part measures about 6.5") tie off the end and cut the remainder of the threads. MAKE SURE YOU TIE IT OFF WITH A KNOT IN THE CENTER OF THE BEAD OR ELSE IT WILL SHOW!Now take some ribbon (I measured out 33" then snipped it in half to I could use it on each side) and make a loop around the end bead. Hot glue the ribbon to itself to secure. Now do the same for the other side. Tie in a bow and TADA! Your very own, handmade necklace! Sure was easy, huh?
