Gideon's Blessing

We blessed Gideon on Sunday, November 30, 2008 in the Delta Third Ward. It was the most beautiful thing that I have ever experienced. I am so emotional about this because I realize that I am on my way to living my life righteously and I'm bringing my family with me. Gideon's blessing was so amazing. Colin blessed him with strength and the knowledge that we love him and will always love him. He also blessed him that he would serve the Lord faithfully as a missionary and teach the Gospel to those around him. Colin said that Gideon would be a light to everyone around him, friends and family.

I am already seeing this light in Gideon. I see it every time we play Church music and Gideon's face breaks into a smile. I see it when Gideon stares at our pictures of Christ with a knowledge that is so sure it intimidates what, in comparison, must be my weak testimony.

I am so thankful for the beautiful blessing our Father in Heaven sought fit to bestow on Gideon this past Sunday. I'm sure those of you who were there felt the Spirit as stronlgy as I did.

My little boy was so precious all dressed in white, so pure and clean.

I had better get going. These tears just won't stop flowing. I am so happy.

Thanksgiving

Well, another year is almost over! I can hardly believe it! This year for Thanksgiving we went to my parents's new house in Nephi and celebrated there. We had one of my dad's co-workers and her eleven-year-old son over as well. I am so thankful that my parents have instilled qualitites of charity and friendship in everything they have taught my siblings and I. We are so blessed to have the things we have and it feels good to share those blessing with those around us.
I personally have so much to be thankful for this year. I have a loving husband who not only works his hardest to provide for our family but also goes to school full-time, spends time with our new baby and me, and still shows us how much he loves us...without complaint. I have a beautiful two-month old son that makes my heart soar with every passing second. I only hope that I can teach him as much as he teaches me. I have a home that keeps my family safe from harm and warms us against this world's bitter cold and outlook. I have the Gospel in my life. I know that by living righteously, my marriage to Colin will last past this life into the eternities and Gideon will be with us forever, too. Forever suddenly doesn't seem very long at all.
Of course, I have loving family and friends that support us in every decision and endeavor we take on. They love us unconditionally and there is nothing I want more.
I am just extremely grateful to eveyone in my life, regardless of how small or big the impact you have made in it.

Our little man!

Gideon is just too cute! And, since he slashed his face I decided to post some pictures WITHOUT the cut to make me feel better about myself! So, here they are!

TEARS...

Okay, so you know how babies have those unbelievably sharp fingernails? And you know how no matter what you do they always seem to find their faces? Well, today Gideon decided he would scratch his face really well! My adorable little angel now has a one inch gash on his cherubic little face! I am so sad! I cried and cried and cried! I was going to upload a picture but then decided against a constant reminder of my parenting mishaps! I just hope it goes away before his blessing on November 30.

While I'm posting, everyone is invited to attend Gideon's Baby Blessing on November 30 at 1p.m. at the Delta Stake Center. I'm not sure what we'll do afterwards since we live in Logan and have to be home so Colin can get to school on Monday, but I am sure we can scrounge up some Thanksgiving left-overs at Grandma Petersen's! LOL! Not really, but I'll let everyone know when we've decided what we're doing. Maybe Root Beer Floats and cake? Or is it too cold now?

DOTING DADDY

Colin has really taken to being a Daddy. He is so great with Gideon. I love taking pictures of them together because I can really see the love Colin has for Gideon. They are best buddies and I think Daddy is having more fun with Gideon than with me! Oh well, I guess I can't be at the top of the list all of the time!

Colin is in charge of changing Gideon. I know! How did I get a husband that was willing to change dirty diapers day and night? I am the luckiest wife in the world!

Stylin' on Sunday

Like any new mommy, I LOVE playing dressup with my new baby! And, like any new baby, Gideon HATES playing dressup with mommy! But...I usually win! Here he is in his Sunday best with a striped yellow and white polo, kakhi dress pants, and an adorable French jacket. He still doesn't fit into any of his shoes so he is wearing blue booties in this picture!
He was the best dressed baby at church!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween Greetings from out Special Spirit!

Gideon is the cutest ghost we have ever seen! His outfit didn't last long though! We went to Grandma and Grandpa's in Nephi and then Gideon decided to go poopy and get some on his costume! I was kinda mad but then he looked at me and I forgot all about that stupid outfit anyway! :)

We also tried to get an Anne Geddes shot of him inside out newly carved pumkin but you can see how well that turned out! He was screaming by the end! I felt like a terrible mommy!
Before you all report me to child services, we did put paper inside the pumpkin so it wasn't cold! He still didn't like it!

I'M BLAMING IT ON "NEW MOM SYNDROME"

Hello my dear friends and family!!!! I know, I know...I am a slacker who should never blog because I don't keep up with what is going on in my life! :) I will try harder to be better! LOL!

So...as all of you already know, Colin and I are new parents!!! We are enjoying this new calling in life tremendously! Gideon Patrick Cook was born October 4, 2008 at 10:07 a.m. He weighed 7 lbs. 15 ozs. and was 20 inches long.

HE IS SO CUTE, HUH??? Anywho, Gideon is doing very well! And, just in case you were wondering, so am I. I guess I will share my labor story for those of you who care!

I was induced on Friday morning at 8 a.m. then I waited, and waited, and....waited. I couldn't feel my contractions most of the time so that was GOOD!!! Then at 2 a.m. Saturday my water broke. THEN I FELT THE CONTRACTIONS! I dilated to an 8 and asked for an epidural. I was fully dilated when I got the epidural, though! I pushed for two hours with no progress made. Gideon was facing my inner thigh so he couldn't come out. Dr. Jackson then decided to vaccuum him out. Then, (Sparing you from all of the nitty gritty) Gideon was finally born!

We are all healthy and doing very well!

Baby? What baby?

GREAT NEWS!!!! So baby Gideon gets to stay inside his comfortable home for yet another week!!! I am very excited about this because yesterday I went and did an amniocentesis and discovered that his lungs aren't mature enough yet. So I am very grateful that he gets to stay inside my tummy and keep growing strong. He now weighs 7 lbs. 1 oz. and the kid has really long legs like his daddy! :)

The amnio was a little scary, if you ever have to do one I suggest never looking at anything but the ultrasound image! I peeked at the needle and almost passed out! Ok...not really, but it was a really quick peek!

So, my blood pressure keeps going up which makes me look like I have elephantitis! My ankles get so bad, Heather actually referred to them as my "kankles"....so rude! Because doctors are so cautious I have to do two non stress tests a week until baby gets here!

But like I said, I am just glad that he is growing and that he is still healthy!

First Anniversary

Colin and I celebrated our First Anniversary on September 7!!! I can't believe how in love I am with this amazing man. He is my rock and I can't believe he is mine FOREVER. I used to get so nervous thinking about the "forever" part of our relationship. I mean, what if I ended up hating his guts, right??? Well, I love his stinkin' guts. He makes me fall even more in love with him every single day. I just can't believe it has been a year! I guess since we've made it this far we'll just have to keep going to see how long we actually will last... :) Just kidding! We've done so much in our first year: we went to Mexico and Guatemala, bought two vehicles, moved apartments, and decided to have a baby!
We sure are an amazing team!!!

Finally posting something

Well, it has been quite a while since I have posted anything on this blog! I am now 36 weeks pregnant and we've had a few complications. First of all, let me just say that everything is okay. The baby and I are doing fine but we are expecting Gideon a little sooner than the original October 11th due date. I developed "mild" pre-eclampsia so I have had to be on bed rest for the last little while. This also means that my placenta could start deteriorating soon so Gideon has to be welcomed into the world before that happens.
I have a doctor's appointment on Friday where we will discuss what will happen next week. On Monday, I will be going to Provo to do an amniocentesis to see if Gideon's lungs are developed enough to induce labor. If they are, then I will be induced a few days later. If not...well we'll see what they say my options are on Friday. I am very happy that I did make it to the full-term mark, though.
At Gideon's last ultrasound he weighed 4 lbs. 9 oz. and that was about three or four weeks ago. (The days have become a blur with everything that is happening!) The technician said he had a BIG head. ...Yippee for me! I think everything is set here at home. I can't wait to bring home baby Gideon. We are getting so anxious.

Updates on Baby Gideon

Everything seems to be on track with our baby!!! We are expecting him on October 11 and NOT A DAY LATER!!! Just kidding. He is a very active baby and likes to keep mommy up at night with all of his kicking and wriggling! We will be having him in Delta and we can't wait to welcome him into our lives. I guess I'll post some pictures so you can all enjoy him, too! At his last ultrasound he weighed 2 lbs. 4 oz. and according to the technician had very long femurs, which made his daddy very happy! :)

End of an Era, Beginning of a new Era

We were very saddened to hear about President Hinckley's passing, but are grateful for his teachings and the love he has shown everyone during his amazing lifetime.  He will be greatly missed.
We are grateful for the new President of the Church, President Thomas S. Monson.  We wish him the best of luck!

GREAT NEWS!

Colin and Christie discovered a wonderful surprise on February 5, 2008...we are EXPECTING!  The baby is due October 12, 2008!
